Simple Adventures

I decided to go on one last adventure before I got married, and it changed my life.

In June of 2014, I packed my bags and kissed my fiancé goodbye, hopped in the car, and drove for…. 30 minutes. Back in my high school stomping grounds of Shawnigan Lake, I attended a Permaculture Design Certificate Course at O.U.R Ecovillage. For the next two weeks, I lived in a dorm, studying permaculture, eating foraged and farmed food, and connecting with amazing people from all over the world. I was so inspired, uplifted and hopeful, determined to make my dreams a reality. Whether it was digging swales, stomping cobb, plastering structures, designing buildings, or just sitting and listening to the incredible Starhawk and Charles Williams, I knew that this was what I wanted to do, and that was where I needed to be. I came home from that experience with no doubt that I would pursue this dream, and here I am, two years into my planning, still pushing forward, with so much help and support from my family, friends, and the wider community. To everyone who has come before, and everyone who supports sustainability now, thank you.
