My Protest

In such an unsure world, stability is hard to come by. That’s why sustainability is so important. Permaculture comes from the idea of permanence in agriculture. Always having enough. Using what is given to create more. One thing I learned through my Permaculture Design Course was peaceful activism. Not necessarily just standing our ground, but determining what we wanted - the positive side, the ‘yes, I want that,’ not the ‘no, don’t do that’ - and living that way. Think Ghandi. Be the change you want to see. You want a community garden? Start one. You want to go foraging for food? Get a group together and do it! You’re concerned about your community’s water supply? Develop a greywater treatment system, set up rain catchment barrels, put in a composting toilet. You can change the way the world works by your choices. Your purchases tell suppliers what you want. Don’t buy things from sources you feel bad about. You can show your neighbours how effective a garden can be by planting one. In order to combat negativity, we must remain positive.
